You can tell an awful lot about an Americana fan (and a music fan in general) by how they feel about the breakup of Uncle Tupelo. Generally, most people fall into one of two camps. They love Jay Farrar or Jeff Tweedy, and then they feel the need to fight and argue over why they chose one over the other. If the person loves Tweedy, then there is a second piece of critical information needed… do they love “Being There” era Wilco (Tweedy’s post-Tupelo outfit) or Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” era Wilco. I happen to love both Farrar and Tweedy, but I won’t lie. I love early Wilco and find new Wilco kind of hit or miss. Here is some early Wilco for you, featuring my all-time favorite Uncle Tupelo song to boot.
